Ghost Mice coming back to newports premier indie venue le pub tuesday september 9th 2008
who the fuck are ghost mice you ask?

Ghost mice are probably one of the coolest anti folk punk style bands to be around at this moment and well ever!
Hailing from the states (indiana) i first found out about these cats chris and hannah when my mate was telling me about this cool 2 peice band who play acoustic folk punk and when they tour they literally hitch hike around to all of there tour dates, taking the occasional train when nessesary. They been kicking out music since like 2003 in this group. And have done a few releases on one of the members labels plan it x records. Many many tours and shows have been played. They pretty much always play for free and have awesome ethics and songs about totally positive ways of getting through life and making it through those hard times.

What i like about these guys is that there totally acoustic and they never play through mic's and amps and all that jazz, And there the kind of band you would find playing some back garden somewhere in the middle of nowhere or some crummy little venue. These travelling diy ethic musicians are keeping it so real, maybe we could all benefit by taking a leaf out of there book?

Easy japaneasy

bogulta - live review - cwlb ifor bach sunday 13th july 2008
Japanese duo bogulta on a hot summer night in cardiffs downstairs clwb ifor bach in support to the mighty dj scotch egg.
Holy fukcing wowzers. How good is this band? i went to this show knowing nothing about these two guys and the music they create and i walked away like a a fan would proudly walk away from a morissey concert proud in the knowledge that this band is a keeper.

Theres only two of these dudes NANI SATOSHIMA (Drums.Vox)
SYOGO YOSHIKAWA (Bass.Vox) but they make enough noise for ten guys playing in some brazzilian funk band. Haha on a serious note though, it was the most insane and hard hitting electro punk mish mash ive ever seen and heard and when little nani jumped up and started to pretend surf his kick drum and smoke his drum stick that pretty much sold it for me! so cool :) with song titles like scrap bog and so forth you cant really go wrong can you.
They looked as good as they sound dressed and wrapped up like radioactive candy bars and playing there instruments like there members of the mars volta they rocked my face.

They totally hammered through there set with the occasional stop to shout some broken english and thanking everyone, This band make me wish i lived in japan on the sole fact that i could see them more often, i wont lie i cannot give you an indepth review to the tracks they played etc as i aint too hot when it comes to my japanese. but have a look at there web links and see what you think and have a listen. if i had to sum them up i suppose i wud have to say its alec empire techno with a lil bit of doom esqe riffage and explosions. Either way its fun as fuck and super extreme noise punk techno, And its something different from your average joe sunday night concert.

Punk rock panini - a bit of respect to cardiff punks - Icons of filth

First things first icons of filth are very sadly no longer together as a band.
They finished up playing together officialy in 2004 when the lead singer frontman stig (andrew sewell) sadly passed away due to heart failure whilst playing a show. Im sorry i didnt want to start this on a sad note but then again for people who dont know the band, i'd say its pretty fucking important and everyone should know, Rest in peace mate. One of the saddest things is though is knowing the fact that you aint going see this band play live again and have the chance to totally submerge your self in there live show.

Anyways a bit of history, They put out there first release on a cassette tape in 1983 that was not on her majesty's service then followed up this release with several more namely:
Used, Abused, Unamused, Onwards Christian Soldiers, Braindeath, and The Filth and The Fury. Then they split, and several years later They reformed in 1999 to many peoples delight. then went on to release Show us You Care in 1999, and Nostradamnedus in 2002.

Icons of filth played a massive part in the u.k underground punk scene along side such bands like conflict and crass, flux of pink indians, honey bane, subhumans and many more. They were known well for the amazing artwork on album covers/patches and such alike and the stand out style lyrics and singing of frontman stig. Very much so in the vein of conflict boasting a lyrical assault on your ears and emotions.
Straight down the line angry anarcho punk band with songs ranging from animal and human rights and fighting against the government for our freedom and rights, Bands like this mean so much to me beacause they are so real, its the voice of the common man, the real man and it has so much we can all relate too and learn from you can tell in his lyrics that he was a man who cared deeply for people and a better way of life the lyrics are very special and they are backed up with riot inducing punk rock guitars and drumming.

I wish i could say i had the opportunity to witness them live but i cannot, which is a total shame.
Since the bands demise there has been many memorial concerts and a complilation album release featuring 34 bands from all over the world paying tribute. its availible to buy at www.profaneexistence.com
In other news now though stigs son calvin is active on the welsh punk scene and has put together a band with members of local hardcore anarcho punks rejected and currently has 'h' the icons of filth drummer playing for them in there band 'entitled' so keep an eye out for them.
